The famous F.W. Woolworth Steinway of 1900 is a very ornate art case piano produced for the founder of the dry goods stores. The piano was decorated in the Steinway art department with carvings by Juan Ayuso. The instrument was sold at auction in Washington, D.C. in 1983 for $24,000.
